This "Babylon the Great" is clearly a religious organization

Isaiah 47:1, 12, 13
Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon,
sit on the ground: there is no throne,
O daughter of the Chaldeans:
for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate.
12 Stand now with thine enchantments,
and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast
laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit,
if so be thou mayest prevail.
13 Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels.
Let now the astrologers, the stargazers,
the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee
from these things that shall come upon thee.

Jeremiah 50:1, 2, 38
The word that the LORD spake against Babylon and
against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.
2 Declare ye among the nations, and publish,
and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say,
Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces;
her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.
38 A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up:
for it is the land of graven images,
and they are mad upon their idols.

Genesis 10:8, 9
And Cush begat Nimrod:
he began to be a mighty one in the earth.
9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD:
wherefore it is said,
Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD.

Genesis 11:2-4, 8
And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east,
that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick,
and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone,
and slime had they for morter.
4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower,
whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name,
lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon
the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

Isaiah 14:4, 13, 14
That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon,
and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation,
in the sides of the north:
And I will sit down on the mountain of meeting,
In the remotest parts of the north.
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
I will be like the most High.

Daniel 5:2-4, 23
Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine,
commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels
which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken
out of the temple which was in Jerusalem;
that the king, and his princes, his wives,
and his concubines, might drink therein.
3 Then they brought the golden vessels that were
taken out of the temple of the house of God
which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes,
his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.
4 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold,
and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.
23 But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven;
and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee,
and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines,
have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver,
and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone,
which see not, nor hear, nor know:
and the God in whose hand thy breath is,
and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:

Revelation 18:23
And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee;
and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride
shall be heard no more at all in thee:
for thy merchants were the great men of the earth;
for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
